I would guess that most of the tutors book/CD’s around would bore you out quite quickly. 121 Favorite Irish Session Tunes by LE McCullough is the only one I would recommend to a pro musician who would like to learn to play ITM on a whistle. — Marcus R.

Favorite whistle player would be L.E. McCullough, favorite album is "St. Patrick Was a Cajun." You just gotta love a guy who composes and plays tunes called "Goat Gods and Bean Dip," and "Leroy the Barbarian". Seriously, though, he has this little trick of bending notes with the medody line that gives his playing a very bright, happy feeling, even while he's blowing you away with ornaments the mere mortal can't replicate.

Hello Mr. McCullough,

I recently purchased your excellent Complete Irish Tinwhistle Tutor and have been having lots of fun using it. Coming from a classical flute background, playing the whistle is not hard; the tough part is learning to play Irish music. Most other whistle books I've seen dwell too long on, say, how to blow into the whistle, whereas your book really devotes most of its time to the intricacies of playing and ornamenting tunes, which is precisely what I am seeking to learn. The accompanying CD is a big help, too, since there really is no substitute for hearing how ornaments and tunes should sound. Thanks for this great method!

              Thanks, and best wishes,

              Micah Schweizer

Both myself and my wife learned the whistle from your tutor, and I still think it is one of the best out there.

Your tin whistle book tutor is great by the way and it helped me a lot when first started learning way over here in Central Oregon. I refer a lot of folks to it when they tell me they want to learn to play whistles. Thanks for all you've done for us aspiring whistle players out there in the world. — Steve Allely

I am a fan of your amazing whistling. I have your tinwhistle tutor book, your 121 session tunes, and am giving your tinwhistle video tutor as a Christmas present this year. — Woody Walker

Dr. McCullough:

I just wanted to drop you a note to say how valuable I have found the "121 Session Tunes" book and CDs. I received the "Tunes" for Christmas and I give it credit for helping me develop far more speed in my playing. thanks for putting the collection together. We struggling and isolated whistle players appreciate it. — Mark Kissell

Mr. McCullough,

Well, I just bought your St. Pat recordings and I don't know what to say. You are probably the greatest player I've ever heard. How do I get to this level? Are people just born with this skill or is this something that I could achieve someday? On your track "The sure way back" I can feel you playing. How do I get past technicalities and just feel? Anyway, If you could turn me on to some tips I would greatly appreciate it! Keep playing and I'll keep buying and dreaming.

      Your fellow whistle player,

      Barry

I am really enjoying the book, and it is great how it explains everything in detail!

Hi L.E.,

I just wanted to give thanks for your "Complete Irish Tinwhistle Tutor". I'm somewhere around "intermediate" on the skill scale, and your book and tape were absolutely invaluable to my gaining a grasp of ornamenting, repertoire, etc. I'm now branching off into low whistle and flute, based primarily on what I've learned from your book and tape.

      Gratefully,

      Tris King, Lafayette, CA

Hi L.E.

I just received your instructional video today, from Elderly Instruments and I just wanted to let you know how great it is. I was having difficulty with ornamentation, but know that I see it actually being done I am already getting the hang of it. It's a great video and I really like the slow air "Down by the Sally Gardens" it really sounds cool. I have been playing a little over a year and I think I have improved quite a bit, your video has given me new inspiration.

      Thanks,

      Mark Desrosiers

      Thank you very much,
